Walter Georis

Born in Belgium in l945, Walter Georis began painting at age nine. His early prowess with pinball machines provided him the funds to purchase his first set of oil paints. Shortly thereafter, he moved to the United States. Pursuing philosophy and music as well, Walter wrote the score for the classic surfing film, ?Endless Summer.?
Painting continued to be his artistic passion. In search of formal training, he returned to Belgium and later traveled to the West Coast, where he discovered the work of Keith Lindberg and S.C. Yuan. These two well known painters influenced Walter as he developed his own loose, bold, impressionistic style.
Walter Georis has had many exhibitions and received considerable recognition, including a first place award from the Monterey Museum of Art, a competition open only to local painters.
His work is collected in Europe and Japan, as well as throughout the United States.
